Spotlight on Greane Tree in Today’s Business Review

Sixteen people recently completed the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Entrepreneurial Assistance Program.

The entrepreneurs graduated Nov. 17 from the chamber’s 12-week training course.

Fourteen of the 16 were women, including Pamela Tobin, who resigned in July as executive director of the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District after 13 years leading the organization.

Her new business is called Innovative Business & Marketing Solutions. Tobin could not immediately be reached for comment.

Rebecca Mora-Contreras, owner of Taco Gordo, a food concession business specializing in authentic Mexican dishes, won the chamber’s business plan competition. She was presented with $1,000 from First Niagara Bank and the chamber.

Jessica Pelton Rowell, an ordained minister and owner of Carissa Ceremonies, won the second prize, a complimentary chamber membership for one year.

Annemarie Lanesey and Joe Payette, co-owners of Greane Tree Technology Group, received the third prize: a color printer, copy and fax machine from Repeat Business Systems.

Linda Davis-Pedlar, co-owner of LDP Technical Consulting Services, won the fourth prize: computer courses from MicroKnowledge.

Nehme Frangie, vice president of partnerships and operations at Vicarious Visions in Menands, was the keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony. He inspired the entrepreneurs to forge ahead despite the current state of the economy.
